World AIDS Day is rapidly approaching and this year AIDS Care Ocean State is having another community block party! On Monday, December 1st from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM we are hosting our "World AIDS Day Community Block Party – Know Your Status!" event at our BroadMed Building parking lot located at 557 Broad Street in Providence. This festive event, sponsored by our Prevention Team, will include free and anonymous HIV/HCV testing, educational information, games, safe sex supplies, giveaways, and a yummy lunch. HIV/HCV testing will be performed inside BroadMed and the first 100 people who take a HIV/HCV test will receive a $10 gift card. In the event of inclement weather, activities will take place indoors at BroadMed.
This year's Rhode Island theme is "RIse Up!" It focuses on empowering people who are HIV+ and the allies that support them in the community and around the world, to RIse Up and make it known that HIV/AIDS is still an issue today and we all need to know our status, educate the community and help to put an end to HIV transmission.
This event will be a wonderful day to raise HIV awareness, mingle and connect with individuals in our community and to remind us of why we do what we do! Stop in to chat and have some food with us!
World AIDS Day, held on December 1st since 1988, is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV, and commemorate those who we have lost. It is a day to reflect, to remember, to educate, to offer support and to grow.
We’re very excited about our Community Block Party and we hope to see you on Monday, December 1st!
